Thank you to all those that tried out this year! We had so much talent and we excited by all the potential we see! If you did not make the team, please continue working and come back next year! We would love to see you again!!
Below is the new 2019-2020 cheer squad. Please read all parts of this post as they contain important next steps and explanations.
As we were comparing scores and looking forward to how we see cheer changing in the state of Utah, we, as a coaching staff, felt like it was important to mix grades more than we have in the past. We feel like this encourages every cheerleader to grow and improve because they are working with cheerleaders of every age. This gives older cheerleaders more leadership opportunities, and younger cheerleaders direct interaction with upperclassmen. For this reason we have decided to no longer have a Sophomore team. We felt like having a sophomore team held our younger cheerleaders back, where they could improve much more as part of the JV team working with juniors and sophomores. We still took the same number of cheerleaders that we would have if we kept the sophomore team. However, instead of spreading them between three teams, the same amount of cheerleaders will be spread between just Varsity and JV teams. If you did not make the team this year, it is not because we cut the Sophomore team. All those that would have made it onto the sophomore team were placed on JV.
Squad Placements were based on Judges Scores, Recommendation Scores, Grades, Attendance, and Stunt Position.
If your name is below please fill out the google form at the end accepting your placement on the team! This form will also ask if you would like to be a captain. Please review the post about captains to know job descriptions before you make that decision. An explanation of who will be eligible to run for which captain position will be on the form.
