COVID-19 Closures and Tryout Update

Because of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, we have made the difficult decision to postpone tryouts.
Safety is our first priority, and we do not want to jeopardize anyone's health during this time. We will hold tryouts either when it is safe to do so, or look into different options. At this point we do not know when tryouts will be taking place or exactly how they will look this year. But we are working with the administration on how to move forward.

Please join our tryout Band for updates as we move forward! Use the QR code below to join, or email zoeh@provo.edu. The band is open to all prospective cheerleaders and parents. This is a great app that allows not only updates, but also back and forth communication between coaches and athletes.

If you are wondering what you can do in the meantime, here is what we suggest:
  1. Fill out all the parts of the checklist you can! You should still be able to fill out the application, get letters of recommendation, register on Register My Athlete, etc. Due dates will move to whenever tryouts gets moved to, but that doesn't mean you can't get them done now!
    • We understand that it may be impossible to get your physical right now, we will be flexible with this portion of the checklist.
  2. Learn the material! All material was posted a few weeks ago, and we just added the jump! Please go learn and perfect the dance, cheer, and jump!
  3. STRETCH EVERY DAY! Flexibility is a large part of mastering many cheerleader skills! Please don't lose your flexibility in this down time.
    • Now would also be a great time to increase your flexibility! There are many great youtube videos that will help you. This is especially recommended for those that want to fly! Please make sure you are working on your body positions every day!
  4. If you have a safe place to tumble, KEEP TUMBLING! Work on your standing and running. Please do not throw any skills in an environment that is not safe to do so, or with out a spot if you need one.
  5. Workout! Keep your endurance up! There are some great workout classes available online and through youtube right now!
  6. Stay healthy! Please follow the CDC orders and stay home! Wash your hands frequently and stay away from those that may be sick!
