You will be graded on dressing up everyday, making posters for the game, helping with decorating the day of homecoming, and game participation.  If you are on the competition teams we will have practice every Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-5:30. We will also have choreography on September 14-15 WHICH IS MANDATORY . Failure to be there will result in your removal from the team.

August Calendar

Please remember that all events below are mandatory and missing them will result in a grade drop. If you have a conflict with one of the events please email zoeh@provo.edu 2 weeks before the event. Absences that are not pre-excused will not be given make up opportunities.

Camp Material

Please use the videos in the folder to review all the camp material. You will be teaching your breakout at camp, so you just need to review the breakout dance you learned. If you missed camp you are expected to learn the FNL routine, the 3 cheers, and the sideline dance. All other dances will be taught to you. CLICK HERE to see the videos.

Banner Fundraiser

Banners are advertisements sold to local businesses that will hang around the football field and basketball court. They cost $500 per season, but businesses are welcome to purchase a banner now for both basketball and football season. As mentioned before, every cheerleader is required to sell 1 banner (for one season) for the team. Every additional banner a cheerleader sells will go towards their individual fees. All banners are due by August 1st. If you plan on fundraising for your fees this is a great options, because 1 banner covers at least half of your fees!! I cannot guarantee that you will be able to cover all of your fees, and any additional competition costs, with the fundraisers we have planned for the rest of the year. So if you are hoping to fundraise all fees this fundraiser is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. To sell a banner contact a business and give them the flyer below. All information including how to pay and size of banner is on the flyer. They can email any images to me at

Cheers

Below are the cheers and fight song and their various due dates. Please remember that all cheerleaders, including returners, should review the all the videos as there are several changes and some new cheers. HERE is the list of cheers. General cheers will be due at our first THS camp on June 11. CLICK HERE for the file of those cheers. Offense and Defense cheers will be due at our second THS camp on August 6. Team Communication

To communicate as a team we will be using a messaging app called Slack. This app allows collaborative planning while also protecting the sensitive information of the team members. We feel this is the easiest and safest way for each squad, coaches, and the team as a whole, to communicate. However, this does require either a smart phone with internet access or a computer to use. If this is a problem, please email: zoeh@provo.edu. Cheerleaders will be sent an invitation to join once we have their email address. We will also be using a team Remind to send important information quickly. This will be received as a text message. It does not allow returning messages, or collaborative planning which is why Slack will be our preferred method of communication and Remind will be used as an announcement maker. To join the Remind follow the below instructions: Parents are welcome to join the remind. We will be sending out a monthly email to all parents with announcements, and recommend

Tryout Material 2018-2019

ATTENTION RETURNING CHEERLEADERS

Will all returning cheerleaders please turn in their blue uniforms at the first day of tryouts. We are no longer making this a requirement to tryout, but we plan on using the uniforms next year to help save money. The JV and sophomore squads will be wearing them and I need to get a count before the first week of May so that I can place an order for replacements if needed.  We are letting you keep your orange uniform and your black  uniform .  Below is an explanation of how uniform fees will work this next year, and what the uniforms will be used for. Next year your fees will go toward purchasing one uniform that you get to keep and renting one uniform that you will turn in at the end of the year. Uniforms cost more than the fee we charge, so to cover this we rent one uniform and pay for the other. The school does not purchase anything for the cheer program. We have to pay for everything either through fees or fundraisers. Next year we hope to make this rental process more clear

8th Graders and other FAQs

Please complete all other parts of the tryout checklist and turn them in where specified. If you have any questions please email zoeh@provo.edu OTHER FAQs: If you cannot make it to one of the clinic days, but would still like to tryout, please email zoeh@provo.edu.
