2021-2022 Tryout

Announcing our 2021-2022 Tryouts!! We are excited to be hosting in person tryouts again this year. Below are important dates and checklist of things that need to be done BEFORE tryouts! Please make sure you have completed each step! A physical version of the checklist and all physical versions of the forms can be found in both the Timpview and Centennial main offices. 


MANDATORY PARENTS MEETING:  Wednesday April 14 @ 3:30 pm in the Cafeteria

CLINIC:  Wednesday and Thursday, April 14 &15 @ 1:30pm in the North Gym (Registration will start at 1:15 on the 14th)

TRYOUTS:  Friday April 16 @ Assigned time, meet in the Commons

Please wear appropriate athletic attire including tennis shoes or cheer shoes if you have them. No jewelry or gum.

 

The final team will be posted Saturday April 17 on timpviewcheer.blogspot.com


Tryout Checklist: 

All items on checklist must be handed in during the Parents Meeting on April 14th unless otherwise specified below.

  1. Tryout Application 
    • The application can be found on HERE
    • This is an electronic application, please use the link above to fill it out. 
  2. Sign up on Register My Athlete
    • If you are a returning cheerleader, or have participated in another sport you only need to register for cheer. 
    • If you are a new athlete, the instructions can be found in the Main Office or  HERE
    • IF YOU ARE IN 8th GRADE SKIP THIS STEP. We will register you if you make the team in the summer.  
  3. Fill out Physical Form and turn into the Timpview Main office
    • Can be found on www.registermyathlete.com, in the main office, HERE
    • This REQUIRES a doctor’s signature, so plan ahead. 
  4. Have at least a 2.0 and only 1 F on your 3rd term transcript 
    • Please staple a copy of your 3rd term grades and attendance to your tryout checklist.  
    • If you do not meet these standards now you are welcome to tryout. You will be required to prove your 4th term grades to be eligible to continue on the team. 
  5. Receive a negative Covid test on or after April 2
    • Only required for 9-11th graders 
    • You can either come to the school provided test on April 2 @6:30 am or get your own covid test. 
    • TEST MUST BE DATED AFTER APRIL 2
  6. Must attend mandatory Parents Meeting with at least one guardian
  7. Must sign and turn in “Squad Expectations” contract and release form
    • These will be handed out at the Parents Meeting
  8. 2 Recommendations
    • One recommendation must be filled out by a coach or advisor from a team or group that you have been a participant of. 
      • If you are a current member of the team this must be filled out by one of the current coaches, you may select which coach fills it out. If you do not select a coach, one will be selected for you.
    • The other must be filled out by a CORE SUBJECT Teacher (Math, English, Social Studies, or Science)
    • These can be in the Main Office or HERE 
  9. NEW THIS YEAR: Learn ALL material before the first day of clinic. 
    • Cheers and dance can be found HERE 
    • We will not be teaching material during the clinic days. Instead we will spend time reviewing and cleaning as well as teaching technique. This is how all material will be taught this year, so we want to make sure that athletes are prepared for what is expected of them up front.

2024 Material

Here is the material for the 2024 Tryouts! All material needs to be learned BEFORE the first day of clinics. Learn the material from the back to make sure you are facing the correct way and use the front videos as a reference for arm positions.  Make sure you know EACH ROLL OFF! You will be given your roll off at clinics, but you will want to make sure you already know it as we will not be teaching them at clinic.  There is a part with tumbling! If you can tumble, TUMBLE! If you cannot tumble learn the dance portion. Tumbling is part of our routines, so it will be expected for you to be able to tumble DURING a routine, not just on a mat.  Tips for a good dance score: perform with clean sharp motions!  COUNT the music. 2024 Team Announcement

Thank you to all those that tried out this year! The level of talent this year far exceeded what we were expecting and we had to make some very difficult cuts. If you did not make the team this year, please keep working on your skills and come back next year! Below is the new 2024-2025 cheer Team. As a reminder we are only making Team Placements today and will make squad placements later. If your name is below please fill out the google form at the end accepting your placement on the team! Please fill it out with correct information as we will use this info to add you to the team Band! Important information regarding uniform fitting will be sent on the band TODAY. So make sure you are on it and receiving information!
